A treadmill test (TMT) is a type of exercise test in which a stress test is performed while a person is exercising on a treadmill while an electrocardiogram is being recorded (ECG). A TMT's main goal is to compare blood circulation in the heart when the person is at rest and when they are at their maximum physical exertion. Abnormal cardiac rhythms can be detected while exercising, allowing doctors to determine the presence or absence of coronary artery disease. Treadmill ECG, or Treadmill Test, is an electrocardiogram (ECG) test performed while walking on a treadmill. It records the heart's beats. You can also do it while riding a stationary bike. During a TMT test for the heart, the heart rate, breaths per minute, and blood pressure are all monitored. TMT is also known as the stress test.
